Eucalyptus macrocarpa – Mottlecah

$8.00

A large, open shrub or spreading mallee with smooth whitish bark, large blue-grey leaves crowded along the stems, large flower buds with peaked cap and spectacular deep pink to red flowers with yellow tips and large decorative woody nuts. This highly ornamental mallee looks fabulous as a feature shrub in larger gardens. Popular with photographers, florists, artists, birds and insects. It will grow from 2 to 4m high, spreading to 3 to 4m wide, and flowers in spring and summer. It is very hardy and prefers drier, well-drained upland sites on sandy loam or sand over gravel and can adapt to harder clay loam with slower growth. It tolerates drought and light frost. Once established, prune back hard to refresh growth and remove old stems. Origin – Northern wheatbelt and sandplains.
