Chorizema cordatum – Flame Pea

A slender upright or sprawling medium shrub with holly-like leaves and long racemes of beautiful pink and apricot pea flowers. This lovely shrub brings a gorgeous splash of colour in late winter and spring, growing from about 0.3 to 1m high. It forms a spectacular understorey display under trees and is a great feature plant in rockeries. Mulch well to keep the surface soil cool and moist in summer. Tip prune and remove any dead wood after flowering and control slugs, snails and caterpillars. Grows well in sandy loam, loam, gravelly loam and clay loam. Origin – South West Jarrah and Karri forest.
