An upright slender shrub with fine, soft leaves and masses of aromatic burgundy and yellow bell flowers. This iconic WA wildflower grows from 0.4 to 1.5m tall and prefers moist soil in sheltered shady sites with mulch. It tolerates frost and light pruning and is popular as a cut flower. It grows in sandy loam, peaty sand and sandy clay loam. A wonderful addition in gardens with summer watering, in large pots, near ponds, dams and near non-saline creeklines. Origin – South-west forests, shrublands, winter-wet depressions and edges of swamps.
