Banksia grandis – Bull Banksia

$8.00

An iconic small tree from the jarrah forest, with long dentate leaves, showy yellow flower spikes and large decorative woody fruiting cones. The large flower spikes are keenly sort by honeyeaters as a source of nectar in late spring and summer. The woody fruiting cones protect the seeds from fire and are used to make a variety of wood craft items. The intriguing shapes and textures make this plant a lovely specimen tree for the garden. It grows to about 5-6m tall and 4m wide and gives shade to smaller understorey plants and ground covers. It prefers to grow on gravelly loam, clay loam and sandy gravel in full sun or part shade.
